1. Did you always know you wanted to become a Mama?
I am trying to think about what I was doing before I became a Mum… my life started a whole new chapter when Hazel came along. She has taught me selfless love, patience and most importantly, how to change a solid nappy!
2. What are your most important values?
Commitment, loyalty and passion.
3. What would your perfect day be like? Describe it.
Ohhhh... a perfect day would start with an oat milk chai latte in bed, brought to me by my partner, Daniel. Then we would all head to Balmoral Beach for a morning swim and enjoy brunch. Perhaps maybe cheeky walk around Mosman shops too.
4. How do you unwind after a busy week of work?
I love to paint my nails. It's a weird one, but I find it so therapeutic. I have four boxes filled with nail polish.
5. What are your favourite mid-week dinner treats?
It’s not a mid-week treat but more of a daily treat - BUBBLE TEA! I am obsessed with bubble tea and yogurt smoothies. I could have them three times a day if that was possible.
6. What skincare and make-up products do you swear by and why?
I have been using the French brand Avène for years. I love the smell and how it makes my skin feel. It fits in so well with my quick and easygoing lifestyle. Plus, the products are not very harsh. The second thing I believe in is sunscreen - always! Finally, I like to let my skin breathe and don’t often wear make-up (since they apply so much while I’m on the job). But if I had to choose a brand, it would be Mecca’s Hourglass Skin Tint concealer (it has built in sunscreen too). I also love Lanolips 101 balm for my lips when I am out the door.
7. Who are your role models?
My mum and dad are the biggest role models! They are so hard-working, but will always be there to lend a shoulder, ear or hug when it is needed most. I couldn’t have made it through 2020 without them!
8. What brings you joy when you are having a bad day?
If I am having a bad day, I love to take a nice bath and listen to a podcast. My favourite is The Modern Women. I enjoy relaxing the body and mind. Then I look forward to a hot chocolate before bed.
9. What is on your playlist?
Anything from Mariah Carey.
10. How have your notions of what it means to be a woman changed over your lifetime?
I used to care so much about body image, the latest handbag, and what people thought of me. But after having Hazel, I have come to realise that thinking is superficial and irrelevant. Today I prioritise my body and really listen to it. If I don’t feel like working out, I won’t force myself. If I want that caramel slice, I will eat it. And if I don’t want to change out of my sweat pants, I won’t! Life is too short to worry about all the noise.
